Highlights of the Hike: While there are plenty of beautiful rainforest scenes to enjoy along the way, the real star of this hike is at the end of the 0.8 mile trail: a magnificent waterfall cascading over a 150 ft cliff face!
Directions: Follow Manoa Road toward the mountain into Paradise Park at the back of Manoa Valley.
Best Times to Hike: This is a tricky one. On one hand, recent rainfall will make the waterfall more spectacular. On the other hand, rain plus heavy foot traffic can create some truly incredible mud on the trail. Perhaps err on the side of dryer weather to assure that your sneakers will be in usable condition for the rest of your trip.
Parking: Parking is available in a lot at the trailhead for $5/ vehicle.
Bathrooms / Water: Treetops Restaurant has a very scenic location next to the trail head, and the restaurant building includes a gift shop called Rainbowʻs End, next to which is a bathroom facility. Water can be purchased at the shop.
Safety / Skill Level: Due to hazards of falling rocks, swimming in the pool below the waterfall is not allowed, and there is a rope to indicate a safe viewing area. The hike is good for novice hikers, however, in addition to some steep uphill segments, the trail on this hike is rarely smooth. Tree roots, slippery mud and stairs are common occurrences along the trail, so definitely be careful!
